Kupenda for the Children, in partnership with Kuhenza, MIT, Boston University, Dimagi, and Sabrams Consulting, has developed a mobile app aimed at improving community-based care and Covid-19 prevention for children with disabilities. The app empowers NGOs to monitor various aspects of children's well-being—physical, social, academic, and emotional—through the Child Status Index. It includes a reporting tool for local leaders to document outreach efforts following disability training and offers resources for family counseling. NGO staff can provide targeted support for children facing issues like malnutrition, illness, Covid-19, or abuse based on the data collected. Additionally, the app will feature GIS mapping to effectively identify children's locations and connect them with necessary services. The health focus areas covered by the app include mental health, communicable diseases, vaccination/immunization, maternal and child health, emergencies, sexual and reproductive health, injuries, health promotion, and other chronic conditions and disabilities.
