The Atipan Project is an award-winning telehealth initiative that offers free healthcare services to vulnerable Indigenous (Ati) and low-income rural communities in Western Visayas, Philippines. Designed as a community-led and gender-sensitive program, it addresses health disparities in geographically isolated areas through digital health and data. The project has successfully promoted health-seeking behaviors, empowered communities, and fostered local innovations in areas such as internet access, medicine procurement, and patient registration. A telehealth caravan equipped with satellite internet was introduced to reach remote communities, demonstrating that digital health can enhance healthcare access for underserved populations. The Atipan Project serves as a model for healthcare transformation in the Philippines. The aim of the Atipan+ initiative is to expand the successful telehealth program to other underserved communities in Western Visayas, leveraging lessons learned from previous implementations. The objectives include decreasing mortality and morbidity, reducing suffering, and improving treatment in primary health care and mental health, targeting both health professionals and the general rural population.
