Summary
The Young Mothers’ Lounge Project aims to enhance the health and well-being of pregnant and breastfeeding adolescent mothers living with HIV through an integrated virtual support system. Utilizing an SMS-based mobile platform, it offers psychosocial support and training to Young Mentor Mothers (YMMs) and young mothers. After training seven YMM facilitators in September 2021, the initiative was rebranded as the “Young Mentor Mother Conquerors” Project, symbolizing empowerment and resilience. The project, known informally as the ‘Lounge’, provides tailored peer-to-peer psychosocial support in a safe virtual environment to improve the mental health of young mothers (YMs). It aims to bolster their resilience and independence by offering information, training, and skills in mental health, maternal and child health, household care, and economic livelihoods. The project seeks to expand its reach, ultimately supporting the mental health and well-being of 600 adolescent mothers living with HIV, with particular focus on maternal and child health, mental health, and sexual and reproductive health, targeting pregnant women, women, and adolescents aged 12 to 18 in both urban and rural settings.

Recommendations
Strengthen facilitator capacity and platform effectiveness through continuous training, improved digital counselling skills, regular system updates, and use of monitoring data to refine content and user experience. Enhance Rocket.Chat functionality with personalised adherence reminders, gamification features, and an updated repository of HIV, mental health, nutrition, and parenting resources. Expand scale and sustainability through partnerships with sponsors, telecom providers, NGOs, influencers, and MoHCC, and by integrating the lounge into national health and youth strategies. Increase reach and impact via social media promotion, service integration with clinics, and a formal scalability and implementation manual. Broaden support services by strengthening GBV response pathways, socio-economic assistance, and direct access to health professionals through secure digital channels.
