MS-SURVEILLANCE is Burkina Faso's official platform for the continuous, structured collection of public health data. Using a customized DHIS2 Tracker module, it enables real-time analysis of epidemiological information, facilitating integrated disease surveillance and early detection of epidemics. The platform supports decision-making on public health interventions, particularly for notifiable diseases. Various programs such as COVID vaccination, cervical cancer and COVID-19 case notification rely on this system, which is managed by different technical departments such as the DPSP and DSF. The system is designed to be interoperable via HL7 FHIR and API REST, and uses CSV import/export. It is based on a customized DHIS2 and aims to strengthen epidemic detection and response in Burkina Faso by 2026, targeting the entire population, both urban and rural.
