The Dominica Integrated Information System for Health (DIISH), initiated by the late Dr. Paul Ricketts, aimed to enhance health information accessibility. After his passing in 2017, Open Solutions for Health (OS4H) was established in 2019 to further this mission. Utilizing the OpenHIE architecture, OS4H facilitates data integration between public and private health sectors. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, OS4H provided a case management system and an e-surveillance solution for hotels at no cost to the government. Additional initiatives include the Health Worker Registry and a vaccine registry. OS4H intends to improve data sharing across Dominica’s healthcare landscape with plans to develop a private sector exchange, focusing on areas such as non-communicable diseases, vaccination, communicable diseases, maternal and child health, and emergency responses.
