Summary
WelTel is an innovative mHealth tool originally designed for HIV treatment adherence, which was adapted in January 2020 to assist with COVID-19 home isolation care. The platform was swiftly implemented in Rwanda and Kenya, and pilot programs were launched in the UK and Canada for vulnerable populations. WelTel supports a variety of health conditions, offering preventive and treatment-related information while addressing social determinants of health. With integrated AI tools, it enhances healthcare efficiency by effectively monitoring large outpatient populations and allows for the export of data to other programs, improving healthcare human resource management. WelTel focuses on various health areas including vaccination/immunization, sexual and reproductive health, environmental health, maternal and child health, communicable diseases, non-communicable diseases, chronic conditions and disabilities, mental health, and health promotion.
