Summary
A preventive Ebola vaccination campaign was launched to immunize approximately 203,000 at-risk individuals who frequently cross borders into the Democratic Republic of Congo. The campaign utilized the Vxnaid Monitoring Platform to track vaccine administration and effectiveness. Between December 2019 and September 2021, 219,775 individuals visited vaccination sites, with 216,114 receiving their first dose and a retention rate of 94.3% returning for the second dose, achieving an overall retention rate of 94%. The Vxnaid platform comprises three modules: identification methods, a reporting dashboard, and an engagement module that employs mobile technology to communicate with vaccinees in their local language, thereby improving recall and addressing misinformation.
