Summary
The health of a nation is closely linked to its citizens' access to affordable healthcare, which is crucial for economic growth. In India, healthcare spending constituted only 1.8% of GDP in 2020-2021, leading to high out-of-pocket costs for individuals. The country struggles with challenges such as poor healthcare records management and a lack of data-driven policy decisions. To address these issues, Aayu, a technology-based platform, is digitizing healthcare services to enhance patient-doctor engagement and connect chemist stores across the country. Currently, Aayu has partnered with over 22,000 chemist stores and has built a centralized data repository with 3.2 million medical records. The platform aims to expand its model to other developing countries to improve healthcare access and infrastructure, focusing on areas like non-communicable diseases, sexual and reproductive health, chronic conditions, oral health, cancer, mental health, and health promotion.
