ENDOS-BF is Burkina Faso's national health information system, using the DHIS2 open source platform since 2013. It enables the collection, aggregation and analysis of routine health data from health facilities, facilitating planning, epidemiological surveillance, and monitoring of health programs, while generating monthly and quarterly reports. The system is a key component of the national digital health system, providing centralized access to sectoral indicators. HMIS (Health Management Information System) is used by all health facilities to transmit activity reports, and integrates with other systems such as REDOP and the nutrition dashboard. The ENDOS-BF architecture includes several types of API, such as Consumer API, Provider API, Aggregator API, and Gateway API, enabling interoperability with various import/export formats such as CSV, JSON and XML. The institutions involved in this system are the Direction des Statistiques Sectorielle et de l'Évaluation (DSSE) for the business side, and the Direction des Systèmes d'Information (DSI) for the technical side. Technical partners include HISP Togo and HISP Oslo, while funding is mainly provided by the Global Fund. The aim of ENDOS-BF is to improve the quality, interoperability and use of health data to optimize decision-making by the end of 2026. The populations targeted by the program include various categories such as children, adults, pregnant women, the elderly, as well as rural and urban communities, among other specific groups.
