In 2016, the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MoHCC) in Zimbabwe introduced the "Impilo" Electronic Health Record system, developed by a local team. This patient-focused system is designed to support health workers in following clinical protocols for essential services such as malaria and HIV testing, maternal health, and outpatient care. The name "Impilo," which means "Health" in Ndebele, reflects its goal of ensuring high-quality care while gathering data for various health initiatives. The system addresses multiple health areas, including communicable diseases, sexual and reproductive health, vaccination and immunization, maternal and child health, health promotion, and chronic conditions and disabilities.
