Weerwi is a mobile app and tool suite that offers reliable, context-specific menstruation information to young girls and women in Senegal and French-speaking Africa. Launched in 2017 by Apiafrique with support from the Botnar Foundation, Weerwi serves over 33,000 monthly users and includes features such as a cycle tracker, personalized advice, quizzes, and a chatbot. The platform also offers a web series, a social media presence, and a paper booklet for those lacking internet access. Designed with a Human-Centered approach, Weerwi addresses social pressures and literacy barriers, tailoring its resources to various user needs. As a multi-channel solution, it focuses on mobile phones and social networks to educate and support girls in understanding and managing their menstrual health, ultimately aiming to reduce suffering related to Sexual and Reproductive Health for the general population.
