Summary
The COVID-19 pandemic has posed a substantial health crisis in Bangladesh, a nation with a dense population. The country faces difficulties in contact tracing, isolation, and intervention due to a lack of adequate data and digital resources. In response, the CMED, in collaboration with the government, initiated the National Digital Surveillance System in April 2020 to help reduce community transmission. This system enables the identification of high-risk individuals, connects them with healthcare services, and monitors COVID-19 patients. To date, over 18,000 health workers have employed this web and mobile app-based system to screen more than 1.8 million COVID-19 suspects and provide essential community education and management, thereby mitigating transmission risks. Focus areas of health include health promotion and communicable diseases.
