Summary
Touch has developed a novel and cost-effective approach to enhance healthcare access in rural communities by utilizing telehealth consultations in partnership with Tanzanian hospitals. This initiative addresses the challenges faced by millions of patients who struggle to seek necessary care due to long distances from healthcare facilities. The teleconsultation model features physician-led visits facilitated by health-post workers or community entrepreneurs, effectively extending healthcare services to those in need. Recognizing that many patients do not return for follow-up care due to cost and distance barriers, hospital leaders initiated this collaboration to increase patient reach. SimuConsult is designed to deliver care at the community level, aiming to eliminate barriers and innovate new ways to provide healthcare directly within patients' home communities, specifically focusing on Primary Health Care for rural populations.
