Summary
The project aims to consolidate the key indicators of the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) into a single dashboard, using various visualizations such as maps, charts, bullet points, and tables. This allows for the analysis of interrelationships between programmatic, financial, and input indicators, while assessing the EIP’s overall performance. This approach saves significant time for all data users and facilitates decision-making at all levels.
The tool will be accessible directly within DHIS2, providing alerts on outliers to improve decision-making regarding vaccination. Additionally, it aims to strengthen a culture of accountability among EPI staff. The health sectors involved include vaccination and immunization, with a focus on target populations such as children under 5 and pregnant women.

Challenges
The challenges faced by the project are both technical and organizational in nature, including: - the upgrade to DHIS2 (December 2023), which resulted in a two-month outage of DHIS2; - A server outage resulting from issues related to repeated power outages at DEPSI in February 2024, which led to a four-month interruption in the use of DHIS2 data and data loss in the fourth quarter of 2023; - The suspension of VIDA use for technical reasons related to the application’s development from February to June 2025; - The DHIS2 data validation process has not been adopted by stakeholders in Madagascar’s health information system (the validation committee is not operational at the field level).
Recommendations
To address these challenges, the following measures have been taken: - Upgrading the DEPSI physical server (purchase of three additional servers); - Installing solar panels in the ministry’s server room; - Training end-users (at the central level, in Madagascar’s 23 regions and 116 districts) to foster a culture of accountability and promote the use of data for decision-making at all levels.
