The Interoperability Layer (IL) is a digital platform aimed at improving data exchange for better care coordination and reporting. It features a channel configuration module that accommodates various standards. In Kenya, IL currently integrates seven systems, including Text for Adherence (T4A) for monitoring ARV adherence through SMS/USSD, Ushauri for automated appointment management and defaulter tracing, the Web Antiretroviral Dispensing Tool (Web ADT), and mLab, which delivers lab results via SMS. Furthermore, it connects with key healthcare systems such as Kenya's DHIS2, IQCare, and KenyaEMR, thereby enhancing healthcare delivery and patient follow-up, particularly in the areas of maternal and child health, communicable diseases, and more.
