Summary
COVID-19 originated in Wuhan, China, in December 2019 and was declared a pandemic by the WHO on March 11, 2020. Côte d'Ivoire reported its first cases by March 31, 2020, with a total of 165 cases and one death. In response, the National Security Council convened on March 16 to initiate containment measures, including school closures. Following this, a state of emergency, curfew, and additional health guidelines were enacted on March 19. The government launched a comprehensive response program aimed at combating the virus, which included care for infected individuals and monitoring systems to support the population during the pandemic, with a focus on communicable diseases.
