Summary
SNOMED CT is a global clinical terminology created and maintained by SNOMED International, designed to accurately represent health-related information. It is used in electronic medical records, prescribing systems and laboratory systems, to promote safe medical care and informed decisions. With over 330,000 hierarchically organized clinical concepts, it covers everything from symptoms to procedures and medications. Its content is updated every six months and is available entirely in Spanish. In addition, the World Health Organization (WHO) is collaborating with SNOMED to develop cross-references with the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10), enabling the two terminologies to be integrated to facilitate the work of healthcare professionals.
