Summary
The DYNAMIC project, building on the successes of ALMANACH and ePOCT, introduces ePOCT+, an advanced electronic clinical decision support algorithm (CDSA) integrated with point-of-care diagnostic tests. This innovative system aims to revolutionize pediatric healthcare in low-resource settings by equipping frontline health workers with precise diagnostic and treatment tools on a tablet. By ensuring accurate diagnoses, effective treatments, and appropriate referrals, DYNAMIC significantly enhances the quality of care for nearly 1 million children aged 0 to 15 across 140 health facilities. Additionally, the project promotes antibiotic stewardship and reduces antimicrobial resistance. Running from January 1, 2019, to December 31, 2023, DYNAMIC operates in Tanzania as a pilot project focused on the integrated management of newborn and childhood infections (IMNCI). The system employs the medAL-suite software to support decision-making and streamline clinical workflows. The project targets children under 5, children aged 5 to 11, and adolescents aged 12 to 18. It involves a collaboration between several key institutions, including RBC, EPFL, the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute, Ifakara Health Institute, Swiss TPH Kigali Office, NIMR-MMRC, and Unisanté. Funded by donors and research grants from organizations such as FIND, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, and the Botnar Foundation, DYNAMIC is committed to providing quantitative evidence of its impact. Further information on DYNAMIC and its associated research can be found through resources such as the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) and the project's official website.
