i-MoMCARE, developed on the MEDplat platform, is revolutionizing maternal and child healthcare in Cambodia by offering an integrated digital platform for Village Health Support Groups (VHSGs) and health center (HC) staff. The mobile application allows VHSGs to register pregnant women and mothers, schedule appointments, manage medical records, and present educational videos. Meanwhile, HC staff can track VHSG activities, access patient histories, and screen for complications via a web interface. By utilizing MEDplat, i-MoMCARE enhances operational efficiency, minimizes paperwork, improves care coordination, and enables scalability for additional health programs, thereby fortifying Cambodia's digital health infrastructure for lasting impact. Key benefits include a Digital Learning Hub to boost VHSG digital literacy, automated risk identification for high-risk pregnancies and neonatal complications, efficient care management facilitating timely referrals, and real-time decision support for healthcare administrators. The program supports an end-to-end continuum of care to ensure comprehensive support from pregnancy through postnatal care and immunization follow-ups. Impact assessments will be conducted in collaboration with NUS, UHS in Cambodia, and Argusoft, employing a two-arm cluster randomized controlled trial to evaluate i-MoMCARE’s effectiveness, feasibility, and cost-effectiveness in enhancing maternal and child health (MCH) service coverage. Future plans aim to integrate automated reporting for the Ministry of Health by 2025, expand disease coverage to include non-communicable diseases by 2026, and enhance digital literacy among 80% of community health workers by 2027. Additional support measures include in-app IT support by 2025, ensuring Ministry of Health ownership by 2027, and scaling the program across more provinces by 2026, targeting a diverse population that includes adults, children under 5, pregnant women, and families in both rural and urban areas across various health focus areas such as Primary Health Care, Maternal and Child Health, Vaccination, Sexual and Reproductive Health, and Health Promotion.
