Summary
The COVID-19 pandemic has severely affected Kenya's low-income populations, highlighting the need for on-the-ground data to develop effective responses. A new partnership aims to gather data from 1 million low-income Kenyans using interactive SMS technology through Echo’s platform, which already reaches over 2 million users monthly. This initiative is expected to provide valuable real-time insights into the pandemic's impact on vulnerable groups. Echo is partnering with the Population Council and is aligned with Kenya's COVID Task Force and CDC Kenya to enhance the data collection process. The objective is to generate long-term insights to guide targeted, data-driven interventions. Funding is being sought to support this essential effort in addressing the needs of Kenya’s most vulnerable communities, focusing on health areas such as communicable diseases and others.
