Summary
PANDA (Pregnancy And Newborn Diagnostic Assessment) tackles the challenge of delivering quality antenatal and postnatal care in low-resource settings. While WHO guidelines advocate for multiple visits for antenatal and postnatal care, achieving consistent quality is often hindered by limited resources and skills. To address this, PANDA introduces an affordable telemedicine solution comprising a solar-powered diagnostic backpack, which empowers healthcare providers—doctors, midwives, and community health workers—to deliver standardized and effective care. This innovative system enhances maternal and neonatal health by enabling comprehensive screening and fostering collaboration across traditional healthcare boundaries. By improving access to quality healthcare in underserved regions, PANDA supports rural healthcare workers and aims to improve maternal and neonatal outcomes, focusing on both maternal and child health, and targeting health professionals as well as pregnant women.
