The AIM Health Plus project, funded by Irish Aid, aims to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality while enhancing child survival and nutrition in four African countries through behavior change at the household level. In Mauritania, a digital health initiative started in 2019 provides community health workers (CHWs) with smartphones equipped with Dimagi’s CommCare software. This application supports CHWs in promoting health behavior changes among pregnant women and caregivers of young children using the Timed and Targeted Counselling method. Key features include visit reminders and real-time data submission, which improve health system planning. The inclusion of local language audio clips increases the app's acceptability, fostering better health communication and community data utilization. The project's health focus areas encompass maternal and child health, chronic conditions and disabilities, vaccination, communicable diseases, sexual and reproductive health, and health promotion.
