Summary
NIA is a digital platform created to assist Tanzanians in saving for health insurance with flexible payment options, aiming to minimize out-of-pocket expenses. Currently, only 30% of the population is insured, which leaves many, especially in rural and informal sectors, at risk of high healthcare costs. With a goal of reaching 50% coverage by 2025, TAHMEF encourages membership among women, providing health insurance cards and an affordable pay-as-you-go system. The initiative includes customized insurance packages, awareness campaigns, and technology-driven solutions for registration and payments. Additionally, it advocates for enhanced healthcare services and operates a sustainable model using a revolving fund to ensure continuous member coverage, focusing primarily on health promotion.
