Summary
UNFPA Sierra Leone has initiated a pilot project for the Safe Delivery App (SDA) across four districts, building on its successful implementation in Ghana. Over eight months, the project involved baseline data collection, training, distribution of the app, and endline data collection, in collaboration with Maternity Foundation and the Ministry of Health. Assessments conducted before and after the app's use showed a significant improvement in knowledge and skills related to postpartum hemorrhage. A Phase II of the project is planned to integrate the app into pre-service training, contingent upon improvements in the Covid-19 situation. The project emphasizes health promotion and maternal and child health.
