The AIM Health Plus project, supported by Irish Aid, seeks to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality while improving child survival and nutrition in four African countries. Emphasizing behavior change at the household level, particularly in Sierra Leone's Imperi district and Sherbro Island, the project has integrated a digital health component since 2017. Community health workers (CHWs) utilize smartphones equipped with Dimagi’s CommCare software to deliver Timed and Targeted Counselling (ttC) for pregnant women and caregivers of children under two. The application aids in sending timely visit reminders and allows for real-time data submission to enhance planning. Incorporating local language audio clips has improved acceptance and communication, thereby strengthening the health system. The health focus areas of the project include vaccination and immunization, chronic conditions and disabilities, communicable diseases, maternal and child health, sexual and reproductive health, and health promotion.
