In August 2017, the Ministry of Health (MOH), with support from the USAID Global Health Supply Chain Program, implemented the OpenLMIS system, replacing an outdated Microsoft Access-based Supply Chain Manager at 400 service delivery points across the country. This new system addressed numerous challenges by facilitating electronic reporting of stock status, which improved data reporting timeliness and visibility. Enhanced data transparency allows the MOH to make more accurate forecasts and resupply decisions, ensuring the availability of essential health commodities. OpenLMIS includes data validation features to correct inconsistencies, and pharmacy staff have been trained to operate the system independently. As of August 31, 2023, OpenLMIS is running on version 3.15.1. The health focus areas for the MOH include communicable diseases, vaccination/immunization, and cancer.
