MSFeCARE significantly elevates pediatric primary healthcare quality in low-resource settings through its advanced electronic Decision Support System (eDSS), MSFeCARE-Ped. Incorporating digitalized Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI) guidelines, the system provides comprehensive guidance for frontline clinicians, enhancing diagnostic accuracy and treatment efficacy.
The primary objective of MSFeCARE is to improve the quality of care for patients and foster the autonomy of frontline healthcare workers through guided decision-making, evidence-based diagnostics and prescriptions, enhanced learning processes, and clinical supervision. Targeting children under 5 years old, the project operates under the aegis of Doctors Without Borders.
The project began on May 1, 2018 in Kidal, and is still ongoing. Functioning as a pilot project with trials focusing on the integrated management of newborn and childhood infections (IMNCI). The initiative uses the MSFeCARE module for children aged 2 months to 5 years, supported by decision support software. Funded by Doctors Without Borders, initiated by Msf barcelona operational centre and backed by quantitative evidence.
