OpenLMIS in Tanzania improves supply chain visibility, which supports informed policy decisions at all levels, from national procurement to health facility replenishment. Since 2015, it has been specifically adapted for Zanzibar's health system. In both Tanzania and Zanzibar, all products ordered by health facilities from the Medical Stores Department (MSD) or Central Medical Stores (CMS), with the exception of vaccines, are managed through the electronic Logistics Management Information System (eLMIS). Vaccines have a separate supply chain. The health focus areas include Maternal and Child Health, Sexual and Reproductive Health, Communicable Diseases, and Vaccination/Immunization.
