Summary
Keheala is a digital health platform designed to enhance healthcare access and treatment outcomes in developing countries through behavioral interventions using basic and smartphone technology. It targets non-medical factors such as stigma and lack of support by incorporating strategies from behavioral economics and psychology. In partnership with USAID, the Kenyan Ministry of Health, and MIT, Keheala conducted a randomized controlled trial with 1,200 tuberculosis patients in Kenya. The results revealed that Keheala users experienced a 68% decrease in unsuccessful treatment outcomes, including death and loss to follow-up, compared to traditional care methods. These findings were published in the New England Journal of Medicine, emphasizing the platform's focus on communicable diseases.
