Summary
MSM Zambia Limited (MSMZL) has improved Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART) services by introducing telemedicine across four first-level hospitals and associated peripheral health centers in Lusaka District. Utilizing a hub-and-spoke model, this system allows for real-time communication between patients and healthcare providers through audio-visual technology, enhancing access to specialized care. The teleconsultation process includes identifying eligible patients, scheduling virtual appointments, conducting consultations at spoke sites, and offering follow-up care, such as medication and tests. Initially concentrating on ART services, this initiative aims to expand to other diseases, thereby increasing healthcare accessibility beyond traditional in-person visits, particularly in response to COVID-19 and other communicable diseases. The health focus areas include non-communicable diseases (NCDs), communicable diseases, and mental health.
