The 6-year MCH project in Senegal, funded by Saving Lives at Birth, aims to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality by improving care timeliness, health service access, and community support. Led by Africare, the project includes two main interventions: maternal care groups and an mHealth system using CommCare. Community health workers, known as Matrones, lead these groups to educate and identify pregnant women early in their pregnancies. At health facilities, Matrones and nurses use CommCare to monitor pregnancy danger signs, manage referrals, and provide counseling, focusing on maternal and child health.
