The rCHMIS platform is a mobile-based tool designed to support real-time health data for community health volunteers (VHTs) and health system managers in refugee settlements. Launched in 2022 by UNHCR, it enables VHTs to provide evidence-based care through offline workflows while allowing supervisors to monitor impact and quality through aggregated dashboards. This platform replaces fragmented systems in Uganda’s refugee settlements, facilitating various health programs such as maternal and child health, infectious diseases, and non-communicable diseases. It addresses health system challenges, increases demand for local health facilities, and enhances primary healthcare delivery, ensuring that nearly 800,000 refugees receive care directly. The initiative aims for complete coverage of 13 refugee settlements in Uganda by the end of 2025, focusing on health areas including Sexual and Reproductive Health, Emergencies, Medications, Primary Health Care, Vaccination, Health Promotion, Environmental Health, Maternal and Child Health, Non-communicable Diseases, and Mental Health, targeting health professionals and health structures within these communities.
