Summary
The Kenya Ministry of Health (MOH) has effectively utilized the mHero platform to share crucial COVID-19 information with over 25,000 healthcare workers across 35 counties. In an effort to address vaccine hesitancy, the MOH launched a vaccination initiative and leveraged mHero to gather insights on health workers' vaccine-related behaviors. By integrating Kenya's health workforce system, iHRIS, with RapidPro, mHero facilitates communication even through basic mobile phones. To date, the MOH has disseminated over 65 key COVID-19 messages covering eight themes, successfully reaching 37% of the public-sector health workforce. The platform has also enabled the sending of more than 2 million bulk SMS messages. The primary health focus areas include communicable diseases and others.
