Summary
Countries impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic are experiencing strained health systems and shortages of vital supplies such as personal protective equipment (PPE), diagnostic kits, and clinical care equipment. To prepare for a possible increase in patient numbers, low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) in regions like Africa, Asia, and Mesoamerica must urgently improve their supply chain management capabilities. An electronic tool is proposed to facilitate the real-time management of these essential supplies. The key health focus areas include maternal and child health, communicable diseases, sexual and reproductive health, and vaccination/immunization efforts.
