The Akwa Ibom State Government has entered into a 3-Year Renewable Contract to implement the Helium Health Enterprise Solution for digitizing health records and managing hospital operations. This pioneering project in the state has achieved an impressive 80% reduction in patient wait times and a 45% increase in facility revenue. The success of the initiative has encouraged the government to reinvest in expanding health services in underserved areas. The Helium system gathers extensive data on patient demographics, clinical care, and operational activities, including billing and inventory management. Initially, hospitals in Ikot Okoro, Ituk Mbang, Ikono, Etinan, and Ukana have been digitized, with additional facilities planned for the second phase. The health focus areas of the project encompass vaccination and immunization, sexual and reproductive health, non-communicable diseases (NCDs), communicable diseases, chronic conditions and disabilities, maternal and child health, and cancer.
