GeoHealth is a geospatial surveillance and response platform designed for monitoring vector-borne diseases in the Americas, compatible with the Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS). It combines satellite and environmental data such as climate, land cover, moisture, and population with epidemiological and socioeconomic datasets to assess environmental suitability and model transmission risks for diseases like visceral leishmaniasis and Aedes-borne arboviruses. By analyzing large, diverse datasets, GeoHealth identifies significant environmental and social relationships that enhance traditional epidemiology, resulting in high-resolution ecological niche and predictive risk models. The platform promotes data sharing through its interoperable, open design, enabling analyses from continental to local scales. GeoHealth provides actionable outputs, including risk maps, early-warning indicators, and visual models that assist public health officials in surveillance, vector control, and resource management. It also fosters capacity building through training and community engagement (EO4HEALTH), enhancing collaboration among health, environmental, and remote-sensing professionals. Unlike traditional surveillance, GeoHealth offers proactive forecasting and spatial precision, thereby improving the efficiency and responsiveness of health interventions. Its adaptable framework allows for application to other vector-borne and climate-sensitive health threats, positioning it as a valuable resource for data-driven decision-making in One Health strategies across the region. The platform specifically addresses the environmental suitability and transmission potential of endemic and epizootic vector-borne diseases in the Americas, particularly focusing on visceral leishmaniasis and Aedes aegypti-borne diseases such as dengue, Zika, and chikungunya, which may spread from Latin America and the Caribbean to North America.
