REC PCIME (Registre Électronique de Consultation - Prise en Charge Intégrée des Maladies de l'Enfant) is a mobile and web application set up in Burkina Faso for the digital management of sick children under five in health centers (CSPS/CM). Since its deployment in 2013 in 56 health districts, the application aims to improve the quality of care by guiding healthcare providers in diagnosis and prescription, in line with national IMCI protocols. REC PCIME replaces paper registers with structured digital data entry, facilitating access to clinical data for optimal case follow-up. The application uses platforms such as DHIS2 Tracker and CommCare, while managing individual consultation data. The software is open source and integrates tools such as HL7 FHIR and a proprietary API for importing/exporting data in CSV format. Healthcare areas covered include immunization, primary healthcare, maternal and child health, health promotion and medication management. The aim is to digitize the IMCI consultation by 2026 to improve care for children under five in urban and rural areas of the country.
