DHIS2 is a customizable, modular, web-based, open-source software tailored for Bhutan, developed using Java frameworks and released under the BSD license. It is free to use and compatible with any platform that has a Java Runtime Environment (JRE 7 or higher). The Health Information Systems Program (HISP) coordinates its global development with contributions from international developers, including those from India and Norway, under the University of Oslo's management with support from NORAD. In Bhutan, the District Health Information System was launched on May 20, 2014, with WHO's assistance. The system focuses on various health areas, including vaccination and immunization, mental health, communicable and non-communicable diseases, health promotion, sexual and reproductive health, environmental health, maternal and child health, injuries, and other chronic conditions and disabilities.
