In Burundi, community health workers (CHWs) have struggled to identify malnutrition in children, specifically those underweight for their height. To tackle this issue, the B4MCN project launched the CommCare application in 2019, with backing from various government ministries and UNICEF. This application assists CHWs in monitoring children's nutritional status through weight and mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC) data. Consequently, all malnourished children within the project area now receive the necessary support. The project's success has prompted Burundian donors to consider applying this solution to other health programs, which focus on areas such as maternal and child health, chronic conditions and disabilities, vaccination and immunization, sexual and reproductive health, communicable diseases, and health promotion.
