Papua New Guinea’s National Department of Health is working to create a real-time reporting system for tracking drugs and health commodities to strengthen the pharmaceutical supply chain and reduce oversupply and expiry risks. Since 2015, World Vision Papua New Guinea has supported this initiative by implementing mSupply, a logistics management information system, across health facilities. Initially launched in 17 locations, mSupply now serves 38 facilities, benefiting over 8 million residents. Although the implementation faced delays due to COVID-19, further deployments at the community level are in progress. This will improve data access for health officers, enhance transparency, and support strategic decision-making in the health sector, with a focus on non-communicable diseases, communicable diseases, and oral health.
