Diabetes Self-Management Support and Education Through Text-Messaging (DSMSET) is an economical two-way text messaging system designed to deliver educational self-help messages that align with the nine dimensions of health management. It is integrated with SHINE OS+, an open-source electronic medical record (EMR) system that improves healthcare transactions. The program is based on the Expanded Health Belief Model, which promotes sequential goal-setting to encourage behaviors that support effective glycemic control, primarily targeting non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
