Pfizer Project Bugiri is focused on decreasing mortality rates among children under five in Uganda's Bugiri district through improved curative and preventive healthcare measures. The initiative aims to boost demand for community-based child health services, strengthen support mechanisms, and enhance child health information. Trained village health teams (VHTs) play a crucial role in promoting care-seeking behaviors and shifting social norms through community engagement. The project utilizes strategies such as supportive supervision and on-site video distance learning to equip VHTs with skills for Integrated Community Case Management, thereby enhancing healthcare quality. Additionally, it improves health information and supply chain management using CommCare for tracking treatment outreach and supplies, while integrating this data with the government's District Health Information System (DHIS2) for better healthcare decision-making. The health focus areas of the project include communicable diseases, chronic conditions and disabilities, vaccination/immunization, sexual and reproductive health, maternal and child health, and health promotion.
