Summary
This project is centered on improving Nairobi's healthcare system by enhancing the management of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in informal settlements. It operates across 45 health facilities in four sub-counties using an NCD Electronic Management System (EMS) that prioritizes patient data privacy and complies with local and international standards. The system is accessible both online and offline through a web and Android app and is built on OpenMRS, making it suitable for low-resource settings and benefiting from global community support. Key features of the EMS include NCD-specific forms, clinical decision support, SMS notifications, comprehensive resources, extensive user assistance, detailed reporting, and interoperability with existing e-health applications such as the Kenya Health Information System (KHIS). The main focus areas of the project are non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
