The Wako digital application was created to enhance the screening and monitoring of high-risk pregnancies among pregnant women in a health district of the Central African Republic, facilitated by traditional birth attendants (TBAs). This quasi-experimental study employed a before-and-after approach to assess the effectiveness of an intervention that included training TBAs to identify and manage high-risk pregnancies, fostering their collaboration with the healthcare system, and utilizing a digital decision-support application on tablets. Key outcomes evaluated were the number of deliveries assisted by skilled healthcare workers, attendance rates for antenatal and postnatal visits, and the overall acceptability of the intervention. The primary health focus is on maternal and child health, targeting pregnant women.
