Summary
RapidPro is an open-source software that enhances data collection via SMS, offering features like user management, multilingual messaging, and external system integration. It is highly accessible, allowing it to reach varied audiences and providing real-time data to support effective nutrition programming. In response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic on routine data collection and malnutrition interventions in Zimbabwe, UNICEF Zimbabwe and the Ministry of Health and Child Care expanded the use of the RapidPro system. This scaling allows for high-frequency collection of nutrition data, ensuring the continuity of vital interventions while reducing the risk of COVID-19 transmission. The health focus areas include maternal and child health, as well as chronic conditions and disabilities.
