Mali is facing significant healthcare challenges, worsened by its extensive geography, poor infrastructure, widespread poverty, political instability, and social inequalities. Many areas are classified as "medical deserts," lacking healthcare professionals and experiencing high rates of endemic diseases and maternal-infant mortality. Telemedicine emerges as a transformative solution, utilizing digital technologies to provide remote care, mitigate geographical barriers, and ensure continuity of care amid conflicts. This approach enhances resource coordination among healthcare providers and allows patients to consult professionals without the need for travel, thereby reducing costs. After several years of implementation, the initiative plans to expand to 100 hospitals and health centers across 10 regions to enhance healthcare access and equity in Mali. The project's focus is on improving primary healthcare via telemedicine for disadvantaged populations, specifically targeting vulnerable groups such as women, the elderly (65+), and the general population, addressing critical health areas like Primary Health Care, Sexual and Reproductive Health, Skin diseases, and Maternal and Child Health.
