The Mary Obstetric Virtual Assistant project aims to enhance care for obstetric patients through risk assessments, responding to a significant 37.8% rise in maternal mortality from 2019 to 2020, further aggravated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The application features a data analysis dashboard and automates risk calculations using international scales. Nursing staff enter patient data via a chatbot, which is cloud-evaluated to produce a risk assessment PDF. In high-risk cases, immediate notifications are sent to physicians and organizational leaders. The implementation required training nursing staff to use tablets and improving internet infrastructure, representing a major technological advancement for the organization. The project focuses on maternal and child health.
