Summary
In 1983, CLAP/SMR implemented the Perinatal Informatics System (SIP), a project supported by health experts to optimize care for mothers and newborns in Latin America and the Caribbean. More than 35 years in the making, the SIP collects data from the first prenatal visit to postpartum discharge, facilitating the monitoring of health and quality of care. This information is essential for monitoring adherence to health protocols and conducting epidemiological surveillance, which contributes to the continuous improvement of maternal and child health services in the region, covering key areas such as sexual and reproductive health and maternal and child health.
