The "Strengthening Operational Capabilities of BGB Hospitals through Digitalization" project aims to transform the management of 500,000 personnel at Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Hospitals from a manual system to a unified, data-driven Hospital Management Information System (HMIS). This initiative tackles the inefficiencies and inaccuracies of paper-based operations by automating 30 modules encompassing both clinical and administrative processes. Key benefits include improved diagnostic efficiency through digital integration of laboratory and radiology equipment, reducing result wait times by 50%. The introduction of Telemedicine and a Digital Cardiac Cath-Lab is expected to lower external cardiac procedure referrals by 75%. Additionally, automating inventory management via the Central Medicine Store Depot (CMSD) aims to cut drug and medical supply losses by 25%. Operationally, a Central Dashboard will provide real-time access to crucial clinical and financial indicators, promoting data-driven decision-making for BGB commanders. The overarching goal of the project is to enhance the operational capabilities of BGB Hospitals, focusing on clinical efficiency and cost-effectiveness through the implementation of an EMR system. It seeks to improve health services for a target population of 500,000 personnel and their families, with specific emphasis on areas such as maternal and child health, medications, skin diseases, primary health care, oral health, injuries, emergencies, and sexual and reproductive health.
