The United Nations Platform for Space-based Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response (UN-SPIDER) aims to ensure global access to space-based information for disaster management across all countries and organizations. The mission focuses on facilitating the effective use of space technologies throughout the entire disaster management cycle by serving as a bridge between disaster management, risk management, and space communities. UN-SPIDER promotes capacity-building and institutional strengthening, particularly in developing countries, and functions as an open network connecting various providers of space-based solutions. The initiative seeks to enhance disaster risk reduction and response operations through knowledge sharing and improved collaboration among satellite data providers and diverse user groups, such as policymakers and emergency responders.
